Meet Sofia

On a hot summer day, my dad took me to the ice rink (Pasadena Ice Skating Center) to cool off from the heatwave.  It was my very first time to go ice skating. It was like love at first sight! I was just 3 years old, and I was definitely in love! I saw the little girls in their pretty dresses stumbling to make their way on the ice, and doing little jumps. I wanted to be able to do the same!  I asked my parents if I can have lessons. This is where my love for skating begun. I found my passion. I would wake up at the crack of dawn just to be able to take my lessons then after would still head over to school! Not the normal schedule a young student keeps but it is what I love to do!  I love the feeling when you first step on the ice, the thrill of hearing the whistle from my skates after I land my jumps gives me satisfaction like no other. Training takes a lot of dedication and I’m fully committed!

Natasha Adler De Guzman and Ouida Robins  were my very 1st coaches and I worked with them for 10 years, I learned a lot from them.  In the pursuit of attaining my goals, our whole family moved to Colorado Springs in 2018 to train at the World Arena (Olympic training center) this is where Olympians train, fortunately I am currently under the dotting tutorage of the World renowned and Olympic coach  Tammy Gambill and her elite team.  I compete at the Junior/Senior Level and I am in the USFS (United States Figure Skating) ISP  (International Selection Pool) 2020-2022. The rest is history.

I am a proud Filipino-American.  My mom is Precious Tongko, she was crowned Bb. Pilipinas - Maja 1990, it brings me great honor to be representing the country of my heritage!  Like my mom, it gives me great honor to represent the Philippines and make my country proud. I’m fortunate to have the best coaches and training team available guiding me through this journey.  I’m asking for all of your support to help me attain my dreams! Going for gold!

Sofia Frank On Ice Perspectives

On Ice Perspectives - by Jordan Cowan

Sofia Frank is a Junior Lady training in Colorado Springs. She grew up skating in Los Angeles. This piece is about coming back to her roots and revisiting places and memories of her past. In the end realizing all the moments and experiences she's been through has led her to where she is today." - Choreographer Crystalrose Sanders ❄️ I also grew up skating in Los Angeles, and I relocated to train for most of my competitive career in Michigan. Coach Crystal is one of my oldest skating friends from the Culver City Ice Arena days. It's super fitting that we got together to film this piece with Sofia in our hometown last month. Sofia learned this choreography completely the day before we shot it! Great job! __🎥 by Jordan @oniceperspectives __⛸ @sofialjfrank __👣 @crystalrose.sanders __🎵 Hometown Glory @adele __📍 @lakingsvalleyic
